Nourishing Outselves: Discovering Ways to Strenghen our Reiki Energy A Reiki Retreat for Reiki Practitioners
This weekend retreat is designed for Reiki practitioners who have at least Reiki I training. The weekend will include creative techniques, meditation practices, and treatments given to each other. The natural beauty of the Mariandale grounds, the labyrinth and healing hut will be an integral part of this retreat experience. Reiki practitioners will get a taste of the wonderful art of self-care. The approaches learned and experienced will also enhance your Reiki practice!
Presenter: Andrea Westkamp, smic Andrea Westkamp trained in the White Light Reiki System of Dr. Mikao Usui and has been teaching Reiki for six years. An experienced pastoral counselor and spiritual director, she is vitally interested in the connectedness of spirituality and health.

Artists’ Contemplative Retreat
This retreat is for serious artists who express their own creativity in painting, drawing, sculpture, poetry, writing or music. Throughout these days together in a spirit of contemplation and prayer, each artist is invited to listen and respond to God's inner call. The natural beauty and serenity of Mariandale encourages participants to pursue thier own artistic endeavors and to share her work with other artist retreatants.
Coordinator: Lorraine Ferguson, OP Lorraine Ferguson, a Dominican Sister of Hope, is an artist, board member of the Dominican Institute for the Arts, and coordinator of the Mariandale Chapel Art Gallery in Ossining, NY. Lorraine has facilitated artists' retreats for the past four years.

Directed Retreat
The focus of this directed retreat will be on assisting the retreatant in understanding and interpreting her/his faith experience and growing in intimacy with God. Daily Eucharist, scripture, and sessions with one of the directors will provide the setting by which we give God the hospitality of our attention.
Directors: Ron Henery, OP; Bob Vaughn, OP Ron Henery, a member of the Dominican Order, was ordained in 1978. Having successfully completed studies at Ohio University, the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC, and the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, his ministry includes preached and directed dretreats, spiritual direction, ministry with women religious and laypersons, and Enneagram programs.
Bob Vaughn, a member of the Dominican Order, was ordained in 1971. Guided Retreat: Jesus and Women
Jesus came for all people; but he himself makes it clear that he came especially for the poor, the oppressed, the powerless. Because women constitute the majority in all these groups, Jesus' relationship with women was a constitutive element in his proclamation and inauguration of God's kin_dom. In this retreat, we will reflect upon the profound significance of Jesus' encounters with the women of his own day, as well as for ourselves today. Come and meet Jesus again for the first time!
Presenter: Mary Schneiders, OP Mary Schneiders is a full-time member of the staff on the Berakah Renewal Center for Women (Pittsfield, NH) for the past 15 years, doing spiritual direction, and teaching courses in scripture, women's spirituality, theology and Christology, as well as retreats and workshops in these same areas throughout the US and in Canada. She has an MA in Religious Studies from Providence College, RI and a PhD in Systematic Theology from the Catholic University of American in Washington, DC.

Summer Smorgasbord: Feasting on a Season's Gifts
"Summer is the season when nature comes into its fullness." Angeles Arrien In a spirit of prayer and playfulness, treat yourself to experiencing the presence of the Divine Spirit in the radiance of the sun, wonder of the night sky, healing gift of water and fruitfulness of Earth. This retreat will include daily presentations, various options for quiet personal reflection in/outdoors (e.g. guided meditations, Tai Chi Chih, creative art expression, etc.), group prayer rituals and faith sharing; all focused on nourishing your body, mind and spirit. Presenters: Carol DeAngelo, SC, LMSW, M.Div.; Nancy Erts, OP Carol DeAngelo works part time as Director of Mission Integration for Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry and part time in her "One Earth Community" ministry where she networks with others and offers mentoring, facilitation and workshops on eco-spirituality, mind body spirit healing and nonviolence. Her two years as Coordinator of Eco-Spirituality Programs at Marydell Faith and Life Center deepened her commitment to exploring with others our relationship to all of God's creation.
Nancy Erts, a Dominican Sister of Hope and Program Specialist at Mariandale, holds degrees in Education and Theology and has completed additional work in Psychology, Holistic and Eco-Spiritualtiy. She has been involved in the ministry of adult spiritual development for over 25 years.

Pat Crowley, a Caldwell Dominican who has worked in education and administration, is Director of the Lumen Center at Caldwell, NJ, and holds a master's degree in Christian Spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, NE.
Mary Dempsey, a member of the Domincan Sisters of Sparkill, NY, holds an MS in Pastoral Counseling. She is experienced in spiritual direction, pastoral counseling, bodywork and intercultural living.

The Spirituality of Inter-Religious Prayer
In this retreat, we will explore and reflect on the theory and practice of various models of Inter-Religious prayer from a Christian perspective within the context of experiencing the dynamics of Asian forms of ritual prayer and meditation. Included will be: • on-site visits to specified locations (Hindu, Buddhist etc.) and participation in their ritual prayer/meditation • various media presentations • an individual compilation of critical articles and media format pertaining to Inter-Religious dialogue, Inter-Religious Prayer, and forms of Asian Prayer and meditation for each retreatant.
We plan to conclude with an Inter-Religious Prayer Service. Persons of all religious traditions are welcome.
Presenter: John Kaserow, MM
John Kaserow is an ordained Maryknoll Priest (1969) with missionary experience in Japan, Taiwan, and China, and experience with various Asian Centers in the United States, including the Parliament of the World’s Religions. He holds advanced degrees in Liturgy (Notre Dame), Theology (Maryknoll, N.Y.), and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology & History of Religions, Concentration in Asian Studies (University of St. Michael’s College (Toronto). Past Dean & President of Maryknoll School of Theology (1979-1982), Director of Liturgy Program and Program on Ritual, Symbolism and World Religions (Maryknoll School of Theology: 1973–1975, 1979-1987), Professor of Mission Studies (Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, 1988 – 1996, Adjunct Professor 1997- 2008). Experience in Inter-Religious Dialogue, Inter-Religious Prayer, and Prayer and Meditation Forms of Asian Traditions (e.g Hindu-Vedanta, Buddhist [Zen, Pure Land, Vajrayana/Tibetan], Taoist, Confucian, Chinese Ritual, Zoroastrian, and Sufi Prayer).

Woman’s Wisdom: Sacred Treasure in Earthen Vessel
Our bodies are a sacred and miraculous part of creation. Often, however, our culture and some traditions have perpetuated the idea that a woman’s body and her sexuality are dangerous or sinful. These messages have negatively affected women for generations, creating a sense of shame and confusion. This workshop will create a safe environment so that participants feel comfortable sharing their stories, exploring their questions, and experiencing embodied and other healing types of prayer.

Rev. Dr. Anne Simmonds is an ordained United Church of Canada Minister who offers spiritual direction and counselling, workshops and retreats. She is adjunct faculty at Emmanuel (Theological) College, University of Toronto, where she teaches in the areas of grief, death and dying and prayer. Margaret Ellen Burke, a Sister of Charity, has years of experience in guiding, preaching and directing retreats both in the US and Canada. Every Common Bush Afire with God: Learning from the Mystics to Live in the Here and Now This retreat will be a time of "sitting with the great mystics"-- including Meister Eckhart, Catherine of Siena, and mystics from other spiritual traditions. We will alternate our time between sitting and walking meditation, yoga (beginners welcome!) and reflections on living in God in the here and now. An environment of silence will help us to go deep into our heart-center and into the heart of the world.

Monica Maher, OPA is a lay Dominican currently at Harvard University as Visiting Faculty, Research Associate and Colorado Scholar in the Women's Studies in Religion Program at Harvard Divinity School. A trained spiritual director, meditation practitioner, and yoga and dance teacher, she lived in Central America and the Caribbean for seven years in ministry with women. She holds a PhD in Christian Ethics from Union Theological Seminary, an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School, and is currently writing a book on women's faith-based responses to gender violence. Her scholarly and pastoral interests lie in the intersection of spirituality and ethics, particularly from an interreligious perspective. The courses she has taught include, "Love Meets Wisdom: Buddhist Christian Dialogue."
Brian J. Pierce, OP is a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Martin de Porres, USA. In 1991 Brian was part of a team of Dominican friars sent to Honduras to found a new community of preachers in the Diocese of San Pedro Sula, where they worked in the formation of lay Delegates of the Word, in university ministry, and with men and women living with HIV-AIDS. In the late 1990’s he lived for a year and a half in a contemplative Christian ashram in Oklahoma, and for the past several years has been working as the Promoter of the Dominican Family in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has written two books: Martin de Porres: A Saint of the Americas (Liguori Publications, 2004) and We Walk the Path Together: Learning from Thich Nhat Hanh and Meister Eckhart (Orbis Books, 2005).

Directed Retreat
This Directed Retreat is a rich opportunity for seven days of Sacred Silence with a daily opportunity for Spiritual Direction. Optional Tai Chi begins the day, and a Night Prayer Fire Ritual ends the day, both overlooking the majestic Hudson, with the celebrations of Eucharist, Communal Reconciliation and other rituals punctuating the days.

Justine Lyons, RSCJ is an experienced spiritual director, retreat director and workshop leader. Former co-director of Our Lady of Peace Retreat Center, Naragansett, Rhode Island, Justine currently ministers at her community’s retreat center in San Diego.
Nancy Pluta is a wife, mother, grandmother, spiritual director for twenty-seven years, Reiki master and bereavement counselor. Nancy is active in Women’s Spirituality and Justice and Peace Ministries in her home parish of Sacred Heart, Bayside, Queens.

The Presence of the Holy Spirit in the Church and World
This retreat will reflect on the identity and mission of the Holy Spirit. It will explore the gifts and the impulses of the Spirit of God in the harsh and beautiful realities of Church and World for it is in the light and darkness that the search for the presence of the Spirit of God takes place.
